"Laugh lines" are colloquially known as wrinkles under the eyes and on the outer corners of the eyes. They are caused by movements of the facial muscles that we make when laughing and squinting our eyes. With age, the wrinkles around the eyes deepen and are visible even when the facial expression is relaxed. The appearance of the radially arranged folds is reminiscent of the claws of crows, which is why they are also called crow's feet.
With age, natural structural components in the skin are broken down, making it appear smooth and firm. These include elastin, hyaluronic acid and collagen. As a result, the skin structure is less firm and becomes increasingly irregular. The first wrinkles become visible - especially under the eyes. Course of treatment of wrinkle injections with botulinum toxin

Treatment: Anesthesia is not required. However, the practitioner may numb the area with a cold pack or numbing cream. The inconveniences are usually minimal and brief. Several small injections of muscle relaxants are given directly into the muscles that are causing the visible lines and wrinkles. The treatment takes about 30 minutes.
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin type A is a well-known and popular active ingredient for treating disturbing dynamic wrinkles (expression lines). The active ingredient is not only used in wrinkle treatment, but is also used in other medical areas.
The smoothing of mimic wrinkles by botulinum toxin is based on the inhibition of irritation on the muscles. In the tissue, the active ingredient reduces the release of the messenger substance acetylcholine, which transmits information from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, the muscle does not contract because the impulse is not sent. This also means that the wrinkle is not activated and the skin smooths out as a result.
The muscle can be blocked for up to a year. During this time, the body gradually breaks down the active ingredient again. As soon as the transmission of information can no longer be inhibited by the botulinum toxin, normal muscle movement is possible again. However, the corresponding wrinkles then become visible again.

FAQ Injection of laugh lines
As a rule, a check-up appointment takes place 2-3 weeks after your injection. At this check-up appointment, we will discuss whether the previous result corresponds to your satisfaction and whether any corrections or improvements should be made.
An injection of laugh lines takes about 30 minutes. Several zones are often combined together.
Before the treatment, no medication should be taken that increases the tendency to bleed (e.g. aspirin, marcumar) or that affects the immune system (e.g. cortisone).
Antibiotics should not be taken prior to treatment.
Before the treatment, you should not perform any peelings, injections or laser treatments in the treatment area for 4 weeks
No alcohol should be consumed 24 hours before the treatment.
In order for the botulinum toxin to work optimally in the target muscle, the following precautions are usually recommended:
• No rubbing or massaging the injected area for 4 hours after treatment, including facials. Washing and light skin care can be continued
• Sitting upright for 4 hours - no lying on your stomach
• avoid hats that fit tightly over the forehead
You should avoid strenuous exercise such as weight training, cross training, long-distance running, yoga (positions that involve turning the body upside down) for 24 hours after treatment.
After 4 hours you can do light exercises such as: walking, jogging, upright yoga
Avoid any position that involves lying flat or upside down.
You can fly after botulinum toxin treatment. the result is not affected by altitude differences or cabin pressure, so there are no negative effects from flying.
In most cases, our patients are able to return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.
Once the botulinum toxin wears off, your muscles will function as they did before treatment. This means that the wrinkles you smoothed or reduced will gradually reappear; no new wrinkles form as a result of the treatment.
An injection with botulinum toxin should only be carried out when you show the first signs of skin aging such as wrinkles and lines that do not go away over a long period of time on a relaxed face.
Botulinum toxin works particularly well on wrinkles that are caused by frequent, mostly unconscious muscle tension, such as forehead wrinkles or wrinkles caused by facial expressions (laugh lines).
